The X Factor is a British television music talent contested by aspiring singers from the public hearings. The show focuses mainly on identifying talent for singing, despite the appearance, personality, stage presence and choreography are also an important element of many performances. The most important attribute that the judges are looking for, however, is the ability to appeal to a mass market of pop fans. The judges are Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole.

The arc of history always has its roots in television. Historically the TV episodes were autonomous units. In the space of 30 or 60 minutes a whole story was told from the beginning to the end. Next week a new story was told. Besides the main characters had little continuity from week to week.

Each judge has to pick four acts to bring up the live stream of the show. Each week, the two acts with the fewest votes from the public have to sing again in a final showdown after the judges decide who should be eliminated. Once there are only five events remaining on the left becomes the left to the public decide who should go.
