Rizzoli & Isles is an American crime drama series based on Tess Gerritsen's novels, starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander as the respective title characters. It premiered on TNT on July 12, 2010, and established a record for most watched cable series launch commercially supported. The premiere was later recognized as the launch of cable all the time most successful series, with DVR viewers the week of its premiere audience increased from just over 9 million dollars.
The season of ten episodes first aired on Mondays at 10 pm ET / PT after The Closer. The series was quickly renewed for a second season on July 30, 2010 after only three episodes to air.
Rizzoli & Detective Jane Rizzoli is Isles Boston medical examiner Maura Isles and completely opposite and good friends who solve crimes and bust some of the most notorious criminals in Boston. Growing up on opposite ends of the economic spectrum, the two remain strikingly different from each other in many ways. Jane, the only woman detective in the homicide division of Boston, is a tough cop and courageous, do not let his guard down (except Maura), dodges his overprotective mother and is best in basketball from her brother. Maura, on the other hand, is usually more comfortable with the dead than the living. She is always impeccably dressed in designer duds with a sound temperament, sometimes cold. And she is working on curbing his tendency to diagnose people he meets - including their first dates. Jane and Maura are often working together as both use their brilliant minds and experience to understand the "who done it" and "how it has" the most complex cases of Boston.
